General Information on HMM educational opporunities:
As a small organization, the Houston Maritime Museum is able to work with closely with educators and scout leaders to develop programming to meet their needs.
Our collections inspire a variety of learning experiences. For example, we have a world-class navigational collection that includes sextants, chronometers, and other navigational aides that help explain topics in Geography, Science, and History. The museum also highlights modern and historic trading vessels that encourage discussions about scientific innovations, the age of exploration, and the modern shipping industry. In addition to merchant ships, the museum has an equal number of warships on display, from the Age of Sail through World War II. And much more, including Civil War ironclads, modern oceanic oil rigs, tug boats, whaling vessels, the Port of Houston, and the TX Navies.
We are currently offering special on-demand presentations on the History of Navigation, Ships in Bottles, and the Offshore Oil and Gas Industry.
Please contact Mary at 713-666-1910 or Mary@HoustonMaritimeMuseum.org to schedule a tour and discuss your groups educational needs.
