Few know it but there were actually two Texas Navies and both helped protect the fledgling Republic of Texas during its most vulnerable time.  

Enjoy the stories and models that depict the history of the men that helped guide the Navies through the harrowing experience of low wages (when available), long hours and dangerous working conditions.

The History of the Texas Navies ranges from the heroic to the downright silly as depicted above where the President of the Republic at one point branded the Texas Navy as pirates and tried to hang the leadership.  These stories and more await you when you visit the Houston Maritime Museum.  Come and see us.
